A: In 2003, House Bull 285 amended the Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Control Act of 1975.  The amendment included mandatory certification for anyone involved in land disturbing activities in Georgia.
A: Typically there are a variety of county, local and state licenses needed.  the Secretary of States website has some information for a new business.  These licenses often include tax licenses, business licenses and, for some specialty contractors, remodelers or other contractors, some local jurisdictions do have license, bond or similar requirements.  For example, in 2008 Milton created a development surety bond program which covers clear cutting, land disturbance, development maintenance, landscaping maintenance and performance and subdivision maintenance and performance.  Sandy Springs and Johns Creek currently require cash for performance and maintenance surety.
